Performing
Arts Week As
you will be aware, this week has been ‘Performing Arts Week’ in
school. Children have had the opportunity participate in lots of drama,
dance and music during the week. Children have also been fortunate enough
to have worked with Nash from
the County Music Service and with students from New
Staff As
many of you are aware, Miss Aylward and Mrs Field are due to begin their
maternity leave at Easter. I am delighted to be able to advise you that
this week we have appointed Mrs Sylvia Verinder to take over from Miss
Aylward in Class 4. Mrs Verinder has a wealth of teaching experience and
is particularly enthusiastic about teaching writing and science. She will
be a real asset to our school. Mrs
Field’s vacancy will be filled by Mrs Del Swain (Monday, Tuesday) and
Mrs Natalie Rogers (Wednesday, Thursday, Friday). Both teachers have an
excellent knowledge of teaching in the Foundation Key Stage and know our
school very well. In
both cases, close liaison with the current class teacher is planned to
ensure that the handover goes as smoothly as possible. Class
Assemblies Well
done to Class 1 who entertained us yesterday with an assembly on Native
Americans. It was great to see so many parents, relatives and friends of
Class 1 there. Just a reminder
that it is Class 2’s assembly on Tuesday (4th March) and
Class 3’s on Thursday (6th March).
These assemblies will start at Sponsored

forms went out on the back of last week’s newsletter. Additional forms
were sent home yesterday. Please contact the office if your child still
needs one. Our skipping day is on 12th March – money raised
will go towards sports equipment and paying sports coaches to come and
work with the children. You are invited to an informal skipping assembly
at the end of our skipping day where children in all classes can
demonstrate the skills they have learnt- this will start at Friends Children
should have brought home raffle tickets yesterday for the treasure hunt at
the Easter Fayre. Further tickets are available through the school office.
Your support with this is much appreciated. There will be a non-uniform
day on Friday 7th March in return for which children are asked
to bring in chocolate for the tombola! Please note that for health and
safety reasons, children should still wear their school shoes and
jewellery should not be worn. The children’s competition for the Easter
Fayre is an egg (hard boiled or blown) made into a model of a nursery
rhyme character for KS1 and an egg word for KS2 (e.g. eggsercise,
eggsam, eggsterminate,
etc). In the past these have been extremely imaginative and creative! Hope
you all have a great week end! Margaret
Pollard (Acting
Headteacher)
