Hope
you all had a restful half term and were able to make the most of some
lovely weather. This next half term is incredibly short, with such a lot
to pack in. Just a reminder that we break up on Wednesday 19th
March for Easter and return to school on Thursday 3rd April. Fundraising
for breast cancer and prostate cancer research A huge well done to year 5 and thank you to everyone who supported them in their fund raising day before half-term. I am delighted to let you know that they managed to raise £278 – a fantastic achievement! Cake
Class
5 were also busy yesterday as it was their turn to run a cake sale. £50.85
was raised and this will be used to buy school equipment. Again, many
thanks for supporting this popular event. Activemark I
am pleased to announce that our school has been awarded ‘Activemark
2007’ for exceptional delivery within the ‘National School Sport
Strategy’. This is in recognition of the amount of PE and physical
activity undertaken by children at school. Revised
school prospectus We
are currently working on updating our school prospectus. With this in
mind, Elizabeth Swanwick and Caroline Ward will be on the school
playground, canvassing the opinions of parents on this over the next few
days. Your time in providing feedback and suggestions will be much
appreciated. Eco-school The
school council project for this term is recycling as we begin to work our
way to the ‘Green Flag Award’ for Eco-schools. We want to encourage
pupils, staff, parents and anyone connected to the school to recycle –
litter, plastic bottles, fruit waste and paper. There will be bags, boxes
and containers around the school to collect items that can be recycled.
Please help us to make this project a success and raise awareness of this
global issue. School
Travel Plan The
Travel Plan committee is pleased to see the new bicycle rack being used.
Now that (hopefully!) the warmer weather is approaching, we hope more
pupils will use this facility. In line with school policy, pupils cycling
to school should wear a helmet and we are working towards a safe place to
keep these during the school day. Another part of the Travel Plan is ‘Kerbsafe’.
This began yesterday for Classes 1 and 2 and will teach children
appropriate pedestrian safety. Sponsored
Skip All
children should bring home a sponsor form today and start collecting
sponsors for our skipping day on 14th March – money raised
will go towards sports equipment and paying sports coaches to come and
work with the children.
Hope
you all have a great week end! Margaret
Pollard (Acting
Headteacher)
