Dear
Parents Welcome
back to school after our summer holidays. I have been so pleased to walk
round school and see the children all working hard and settling in to
their new classes. The staff have spent several days preparing for the new
school year, training, setting up their classrooms and preparing displays.
Thank you all! Our
wonderful new doorway, lobby and hall have made such a difference to the
entrance to the school. For
one thing it is much easier to get in! I am sure any visitors with small
children, lots of baggage, deliveries, buggies or wheelchairs will
especially notice the improved access. Security is better too. We have
also increased the natural daylight in the hall and redecorated the area
which looks very fresh and bright. Mrs Braggs and Mrs Stimson have swapped
corridor sides with me and so, when you come through the front doors of
school to talk to the school office staff, turn to your right and through
the hatch you will see their newly enlarged office. I
would especially like to thank Dot Alcock our caretaker and the GCG staff
for working so hard to get the school ready for the beginning of term. Class
Newsletters The
teachers will be sending out their termly class newsletters at the end of
this week. This should give you a good idea of the learning planned in
your child’s class and give you some ideas of ways you could help with
your child’s learning this term at home. Sometimes parents have a
particular talent or knowledge which links with a class topic in art,
science, history, geography or even PE. If you feel you have something you
could contribute to the class, please let your child’s teacher know.
Next week, we’ll also send a list of the term dates which we have fixed
so far, so that you can make arrangements to join us for such events as
Parent Consultation evenings, Harvest and Christmas celebrations. School
Dedication Service Charmaine
Host and I have planned a service of dedication for our new school year
and I would like to invite as many parents as possible to stay after
dropping their children off and join us in the school hall next Wednesday
12th September at 9.15am.for about 30minutes.
The
children will take some part in the service by sharing their thoughts and
of course by their wonderful singing. Please join us. Uniform In order to help Mrs Braggs and Mrs Stimson manage their ever growing work-load we are going to change the way uniform is sent out from school. Please send in your uniform orders with cheque or cash in an envelope. Mrs Braggs or Mrs Stimson will complete the orders on Tuesdays each week and send the uniform home with your child. We’ll send out some order forms next week; but of course you can always collect an order form from the office and, shortly, I’ll arrange for an order form to be down-loadable from the school website. Please
click here to print an order form New
Staff and Children Our
two new teachers, Miss Ingram in Class 1 and Mrs Gwatkin in Class 5, have
introduced themselves to the children in assembly. They are both keen to
develop good relationships with class parents so please do take the
opportunity to introduce yourself if you have not already met the teacher.
It is also good to welcome Mrs Hotchkiss back as a supply teacher. She
worked with several classes last year, and is currently teaching our Yr 4
children. This
autumn we have several new children joining us: Gemma and Owen in Class 1,
Laura and her brother Jamie in Classes 3 and 5 and Ola in Class 6. As I
have noticed on so many occasions, Kineton children have been very warm
and welcoming to their new class mates Clubs During
next week we will send out a letter with all the clubs arranged for the
term. I am planning to run a
cooking club for Yrs 1-4 on Tuesdays 3.15-4.15 and would appreciate any
offers of help with this. Please let me know if you would like to join in
and help me to run this club. Parrots
Mrs
Julie Goode (mother of Daniel in Class 3) is organising the Parrots French
Club after school on Fridays, starting 22nd September. There
are some places available for this term and there will be a presentation
for parents at school on Wednesday 13th September at 2.55pm.
Please contact Julie if you are interested. Food
Week We
are planning a special week of learning centred around food for the week
beginning 2nd October. Each class will have a range of
activities, more information to follow. We also hope to hold our harvest
celebration during this week. This
is also “Walk to School Week” and we want to encourage our children to
walk to school if possible, for at least some of the way, if they live at
some distance from school. After–School
Club KASC is
the shortened name for the after-school club which is now up and running.
The children are well settled and enjoying themselves. 2007
Starters It
may seem very early, but if you have a child born between 1st
Sept 2002 and 31st Aug 2003 or you know a neighbour with a
child of this age you need to apply for a school place now. The closing
date for applications is October 20th. I am currently making
appointments to meet and show around parents and children interested in a
place at our school. If you feel you missed out on a tour before or know
of a family please do telephone for an appointment. If you want any advice
or help in completing the application forms please do not hesitate to
contact the school office. Our school does not have any requirement for
baptism certificates. Operation
Christmas Child (The Shoe Box Scheme) Mrs
Savory has kindly volunteered to organise this scheme again this year.
It’s a wonderful idea and an excellent way of involving our children in
thinking of others less fortunate than themselves. We’ll be sending out
a leaflet with all the information at the beginning of October and have a
collection booked already for our filled shoe boxes. School
Meals and Cafeteria In
line with new national regulations, Warwickshire County Caterers have now
withdrawn certain items such as crisps, burgers, sausage rolls and
hotdogs. There will be a new range of food on sale and I hope we should be
back to providing a choice of more healthy food soon. I have asked for
some further information on this so that we can tell the children what
choices they have. As soon as I have more news I shall let parents know.
The kitchen staff have also asked me to point out that several prices have
gone up and that some children have not had enough money this week. Reminders Just
a few quick reminders: School
meals now cost £1.55 per day.
A
sum of money was found on the school grounds yesterday; if anyone has lost
money please contact the school office. I
look forward to meeting with you on the playground or at special events
during the term. I do hope you will be able to join us in school for our
dedication service next Wednesday 12th Sept at 9.15am. Yours
sincerely M.Jane
