Fundraising for breast cancer and prostate cancer research

Many thanks to Mrs Gwatkin and Year 5 who have organised today’s fundraising event. Activities are continuing throughout today and we will let you know how much we have raised in the next newsletter.

Friends

It was good to see so many pupils from our school – past, present and future (!) – and their families and friends at the Pancake Racing on Sunday. Great fun was had by all, and lots of delicious pancakes were eaten too. Many thanks to ‘Friends’ for organising this increasingly popular event.

The Easter Fayre is coming up on Saturday 15th March. If anybody would like to help out with this please let a member of the ‘Friends’ know, or you would be most welcome at a planning meeting at 8pm on Monday 18th February at The Swan. ‘Friends’ are also looking for a volunteer/volunteers to run the Easter egg hunt. Please contact them if you are interested. There will be a non-uniform day on Friday 7th March in return for which children are asked to bring in chocolate for the tombola!

Sainsbury’s Active Kids

I am pleased to confirm that once again, out school will be taking part in this campaign. In the past, this scheme has been a good way for us to gain additional PE and playground equipment at no extra cost to the school. Last year we collected over 11000 vouchers, so let’s see if we can do even better this year. Vouchers will be issued from 14th February to 4th June, so start collecting!!

Contact details

Teachers will be hard at work over half-term with report writing. Please advise the school office, in confidence, if family circumstances have changed over the last year and additional copies of school reports are required. Could you also ensure that we have up-to-date contact details in case of an emergency.

Cake Sale

It is Class 5’s turn to run a cake sale in the week after half-term. This will take place during morning break on Thursday 21st February. Money raised will go towards equipment for the school.

Skipping

The sponsored skip will take place on Friday 14th March. You should receive a sponsor form after half term.

Reminder

School finishes for half term today.  Monday 18th February is a staff training day with children returning to school on Tuesday 19th February.

Hope you all have a great half term!

Margaret Pollard

 (Acting Head teacher)
