  Newsletter 1 - October 4th 2007

Dear Parents,

Welcome back and all the best for the new school year!

I would like to introduce myself. I am Lucie Buran and will be your Acting Headteacher

until Mrs. Moffat returns. I was Acting Head at Tysoe C. of E. Primary School last year and am delighted to be involved with Kineton. Both my children are pupils at Kineton High School . I have been working within the Kineton cluster of schools for the past few years and am very much looking forward to getting to know you and your children in the coming weeks. I believe in a strong home school partnership and operate an open-door policy. Please do not hesitate to make an appointment if you need to.

I will be continuing and developing further the good work done by Mrs. Hunt, Mrs. Sayer, Mrs. Pollard and the Kineton “team” over the past months. This alongside Mrs. Moffat’s clear vision for the school will ensure that Kineton C. of  E. Primary School moves forward with strong purpose and leadership in the months to come. Thank you to all of the staff, governors  and parents who have pulled together so impressively.

Behaviour

We are continuing our focus on behaviour this term and thank you for your continued support and cooperation. It has already proved to be of good effect. Please find the school rules below so that you can reinforce them at home if the opportunity arises!

School Rules:

  1. Listen to all adults at school and do as they say.
  2.  Don’t interrupt lessons.
  3. Always be polite and do your best.
  4. Take care of each other and move sensibly around the school.
  5. Share and take care of school equipment.
  6. Ask permission to touch or take someone else’s things.

SEAL: Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning

We believe that children learn best of all if they are happy, confident, understand themselves, understand their feelings and now how to get on together and make friends.

To help all our children with this we will be working on special activities that develop these skills. Each half-term we will be looking at a particular theme. The theme will start with an assembly and be followed up in class.

The theme for this half term will be New Beginnings. During the term the children will be exploring how to create a learning environment that helps them learn together in a happy, busy and safe way. They will also learn about the feelings they have when they are happy, sad, scared and excited, and how to manage these feelings in the classroom.

Lunches

Due to the increase in prices this year any child having the cafeteria option will now need to bring £1.60 in order to have enough money for a reasonable lunch.

School Uniform

Thanks to all parents for making sure that children come to school in appropriate uniform.

Please find a reminder of our new policy below.

·        Black sensible shoes to be worn. Boots, trainers and open toed sandals are not permitted.

·        No jewellery may be worn, and this includes earrings. Children wearing jewellery to school will be asked to remove it immediately.

·        Trousers, skirts and shorts (except for PE) should be grey, not black. They should be traditional style – no combats.

·        Sweaters and sweatshirts etc. should only be red.

·        Skirts and dresses should be knee length.

·        Children with hair long enough to be tied back should come to school with it tied back.

New Staff

Welcome to Mrs. Dolphin who is our new Teaching Assistant in Year 4

and to Mrs. Johnson our new Teaching Assistant in Year 2. I wish them both a happy future at Kineton.

Holiday Requests

May I remind you that holidays must not be taken during term-time.  Applications, due to extreme circumstances only, may be submitted to the headteacher for consideration.  Thank you for your co-operation.

Helen’s Place

We are extremely proud to have Kineton Playgroup join us and wish them all the best for their new venture. We are looking forward to furthering our already well established two-way partnership and sharing expertise in early years child development. We are all delighted to see Helen’s dream come to fruition.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Lunchtime and after-school clubs will start week beginning 17th September.  Details of clubs will be sent out by the end of this week.  Please return slips as soon as possible.

Friends Events

The Friends would like to invite all parents to their AGM at 7.15 p.m. on Tuesday 2nd October.  It will be an informal meeting to go over events and fundraising from last year and to plan events for the coming year – new ideas are always welcome!  Wine will be served and there will be no obligation to join the committee.

The Friends Autumn Fayre will be held on Saturday 13th October at 2 p.m. and the Fireworks and Bonfire will be held on Saturday 3rd November.  Friday 5th October will be a non-uniform day.  In exchange children are asked to bring a bottle for the Autumn Fayre.

Welcome to all of our new pupils.  We hope you will be very happy at Kineton.

Good luck to all of our last year’s Year 6 as they start their new schools. Don’t forget to let us know how you are getting on!

I very much look forward to meeting you and please do not hesitate to contact me if there is anything I can help you with.

Yours sincerely,

Lucie Buran

Acting Headteacher
