Friends

Don’t forget ‘Pancake Racing’, at 12 noon this Sunday, 3rd February. It would be great to see as many of you there as possible.

Skipping

The children who came to the skipping workshop on Wednesday had a great time and learnt lots of new skills. We have now sold out of skipping ropes but you can place an order at the office. Cost £3.50.

Kerb Safe

We would really appreciate a few more volunteers to enable us to run this programme with our younger children. The training will take place on the afternoon on 7th February and will involve helping out on six Tuesday or Thursday afternoons. Please let Mrs Sayer know as soon as possible if you are interested in helping out with this scheme.

Volunteer cycling instructors

We also need more volunteers for this. If you could possibly help, please speak to Ms Stimson in the office. Without sufficient help, we will unfortunately be unable to run cycling training in school.  This course provides the children with basic road safety awareness.

Year 5 trip

On Tuesday 29th January 2008 Class 5 visited Compton Verney. The class has been learning about ‘Containers’ as part of their Art topic this term and they were lucky enough to have the whole of the museum to themselves as the museum is currently shut to the public! The class really enjoyed their day and produced some excellent sketches of containers from the museum’s collection. In the afternoon they enjoyed making a clay container and there were some super designs! Mrs Gwatkin and Mrs Ribbands were very proud of their behaviour on the day – well done Class 5!!!

Fundraising for breast cancer and prostate cancer research

Next Friday (8th February), children are invited to change an item or items of their school uniform for something blue or something pink (or a combination of both!) and make a donation of £1 towards breast cancer and prostate cancer research. Other school uniform rules will continue to apply i.e. school shoes, hair tied back and no jewellery.

Reminder

School finishes for half term next Friday. Monday 18th February is a staff training day with children returning to school on Tuesday 19th February.

Have a lovely weekend!

Margaret Pollard

 (Acting Head teacher)
