This term,
as you know, is the last term before SATS Week that starts on 14th
May, after Easter. We shall be revising subjects that the children
have visited before, as well as work on new topics. Some parents have
found helpful to get revision guides to study from at home. There are
varieties to choose from in shops like WH Smith. If your child has access
to a computer at home I would highly recommend the website www.bbc.co.uk/schools/revisewise/.

Our residential visit to Marle Hall for 5 days is also happening this term
on Monday 12th March. Details about this trip and the date for
a meeting will be sent out later.

Again, the children will be
receiving homework and your help in ensuring that homework is regularly
completed is greatly appreciated. Maths and Literacy (except for the
first half term) homework will be set as early as possible during the
week, to be handed in on Monday. A separate letter has been sent
home giving details about the history project for the first half of this
term.

PE will include Games and
Gymnastics. In Games the children will develop netball and hockey skills.
Gymnastics is based on the theme ‘Counter-Balance and Counter-Tension'.
‘Fit for Learning’ will continue throughout the term. Please ensure
that your child has his/her PE kit in school at all times, suitable for
both indoor and outdoor use, as it may be that PE will take place other
times during the week. For safety reasons jewellery should not be worn.

Like
last year, your child will have a Reading Journal and this should be
filled in every day. It is expected that children should read
for at least 10 minutes each evening. The title of the book and the
pages read should then be recorded in the journal and signed by a parent
or responsible adult. These journals will then be counter-signed by the
teacher. The journals have a section in which the children will write a
review in school so it is important that these journals are kept safe in
bags and brought to and from school each day. We chose to spend more money
on higher quality books to use as journals. This means that they will last
longer and gives them added status. If one does get lost we will ask for
the full cost of replacement (£1.50).
